Two new knives designed by John Arizona Bushman Campbell and made by Scorpion Knives UK will be available very soon. The Southwest Trapper has a 4 inch CS80 carbon steel blade giving it a 81/2 inch overall length. The Southwest Hunter has a 5 inch CS80 carbon steel blade and is 93/4 inches overall with micarta handles. These blades are a little different than most of the other blades John has designed. The goal of the design was to come up with a blade that could be tough for most outdoor tasks and still be legal for EDC in most areas. Each blade will be 3/16 thick in CS80 steel. They have a brush satin finish with micarta scales. These blades are designed to be used for hunting, trapping, survival, bushcraft, or any other outdoor task.

High Desert Art is now up running. This is a series of photographs I have taken over the years while out in the desert. In time I will be adding more prints to the Fine Art America page and linking it directly from my site. Keep checking back for new photos, who knows you may just see one you want on your wall.
In the future I will also be adding photo prints of the models I am working with. The hold up at the moment is equipment. I am trying to get a home studio built not only for them but for my knife photography and product photography as well. Each day that goes by I get a little closer to being where I want to be as a “shutter bug” and I have found it is one thing I really enjoy doing.
So far I have added a few plant photos as well as some reptile prints. These are some of the rattlesnakes photos I have taken over the years. A few of the plant photos I took while doing plant research in the field for a book I am slowly but steadily working on.

This is an interview video of me going over my new book The Complete Survival in the Southwest. This book has taken me seven years to write and is now completed.
This year has been a pretty bad fire season to say the least for the sate of Arizona. Not only for Arizona but other states as well. We recently lost 19 heroic firefighters from the Granite Mountain Hot Shot Crew. The fire was started by lightning and decimated the town of Yarnell. We are moving into stage1 fire restriction once again meaning there will be no open fires anywhere in my area and possible the entire state. These fire restrictions have become more and more strict and more often in the last few years. This also has an effect on wilderness training in the sense that even the most basic of classes requires the use of fire. Without the ability to have an open fire there is no use in training students how to properly and safely make, build, and keep a fire. Fines are stiff and can cost upwards of 250,000 dollars in fines. For this reason I have decided to cancel all classes and move to the book format so students can learn at their own pace. I am open to all questions about the use of these books and the information in them. This way you can learn at your own pace and do it in the safety of your own property. This way there is need for fire permits, special use permits for land, no waivers or insurance, and it is more cost effective to you the student. I apologize for having to go to this format, I understand that nothing can replace actual field time with an instructor. However when bureaucracies become the general rule this is the only option to keep costs down to make learning affordable for all.

Welcome to High Desert Survival School. I have become very busy recently with the release of 2 of the 3 blades in my new Pro Tool Collaboration project. Still working on the Book. I am working on it as time permits as well as the plans of a DVD series to be filmed in the Spring and Summer of 2013. I will not be filming youtube videos at that time. I will be taking a hiatus from Youtube to focus on completing these projects. We are also very close to the start of the Brothers of Bushcraft DVD. As time allows I have been chugging away at that as well.
